Martin Scorsese is back with The Irishman, his first narrative feature film since Silence in 2016. Based on the novel I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brandt, the film takes a dark look into the Irish mob following Frank ‘The Irishman’ Sheeran (De Niro) reflecting on his time as a mob hitman. The plot focuses mostly on his involvement in the disappearance of American Labor Union leader Jimmy Hoffa (Pacino).

With a $200 million budget, The Irishman is Scorsese’s most expensive project, featuring high class visual effects used to digitally de-age his actors. The film will be distributed by Netflix and also stars Jesse Plemons, Anna Paquin, Bobby Cannavale, Harvey Keitel, Joe Pesci and Ray Romano.

The Irishman will be released for a limited run in cinemas later in 2019, with a follow up Netflix release.
